Furoshiki is a type of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that was frequently used to transport clothes, gifts or other goods. It eventually came to serve as a means for merchants to transport their wares or protect and decorate a gift. Using techniques similar to origami, furoshiki can be used for gift wrapping, grocery shopping or to wrap your everyday lunchbox, becoming a placemat when you unwrap it.
Furoshiki is the eco-friendly wrapping cloth. It is reusable and multipurpose, helping to reduce the impact on our environment, of paper giftwrap and plastic bags. It is also a stylish and unique wrapping option that will be appreciated.
Our furoshiki are hand screen printed as an individual work of art. Each cloth has been multi-printed with hand mixed colours and our own designs. Each piece is a one-off, unique part of our printing and design process; individual colours mix on the cloth to form new colours, and designs printed over each other make new shapes.
The soft hemp / organic cotton makes this a piece that will be treasured and reused for many gifts to come.
Each cloth comes with beautifully illustrated wrapping instructions.
